Loose tiles could break if stepped on them and they are hollow underneath. Thin set mortar breaks with movement and detach therefore making the tiles become loose.

Natural stone floor tiles and slabs are usually sold in batches cut out from a same slab to keep tiles within the same color, hue and pattern.

Saltillo stripping, clean and seal. One way of adding shine to saltillo paver is to add a topical sealer, in this case wax. Unfortunately wax dries up, creates areas where grime and dirt build up and it picks up all kinds of debris.
If the wax sealer is not replaced regularly the look of if can be quite unpleasant and honestly even a health hazard.
We have seen many homes where the was sealer gets so dry that it cracks and peels off. In other instances the wax close to a refrigerator or a home appliance that emits heat melts and picks up dirt, trash, pets hair, we have even seen coins inserted in the wax.

That wax has to be stripped to get rid of it and it is an arduous process. Our advice is that if you decide to use a wax sealer you re-do it every so often to avoid the situations described above.

In this case we stripped the floor and then just added an enhancer sealer with brings character and protects the stone by impregnating it.

Travertine Cleaning and Sealing

Travertine restoration. This type of travertine has a texture that lets dirt get into it. While not exactly tumbled travertine it looked more flamed travertine. As you can see in this picture the area we cleaned was just a sample.

Despite not hadn't been cleaned in a long period of time we were able to bring it back its natural look and vibrancy.
First we cleaned it with ph neutral cleaner and buffed it to remove the dirt and grime. After the first cleaning we rinsed it and applied a second buffing round this time with clean water.

On top of machine cleaning we hand cleaned the grout to make sure it got the best cleaning it could get. Our grout cleaning process gets the grout 70-90% cleaned. While it is very effective is almost impossible to make grout look as brand new. The only best process would be replacing or retouching the grout.
After that we proceeded to seal by applying 2-3 coatings of sealer, then buffed out the excess sealer.

Due to its porosity paver tends to look dull and pick up dirt and grime. On top of its condition there was a crack running all along the floor. Our process gave back life to the floor and gave character. The process also diminished the crack line after we repaired.

This floor had a crack running all along from wall to wall. We restored the paver through a proprietary method and repaired the crack before doing the restoration process since it is important to get an even surface of both the paver and the repaired crack.
