Travertine stair steps repair. Sometimes floor tiles become loose for various reasons, either house foundation o soil movement or just a bad installation. Loose tiles could break if stepped on them and they are hollow underneath. Thin set mortar breaks with movement and detach therefore making the tiles become loose.

Another inconvenience is that the edges of a tile could be sharp and become a hazard. The edge can cut or cause harm.
If the tile is uneven it cause a person to trip therefore the need to replace or fix and/or re-secure loose tile.


Replacing tiles requires a careful process. If the broken/loose tiles are not pulled out properly it can cause damage to the tiles. If you don't have the proper replacement tiles this could be a problem.
Natural stone floor tiles and slabs are usually sold in batches cut out from a same slab to keep tiles within the same color, hue and pattern.

We have seen tiles having to be replaced by tiles that don't match the existing installation.

Travertine Cleaning and Sealing

Travertine restoration. This type of travertine has a texture that lets dirt get into it. While not exactly tumbled travertine it looked more flamed travertine. As you can see in this picture the area we cleaned was just a sample.

Despite not hadn't been cleaned in a long period of time we were able to bring it back its natural look and vibrancy.
First we cleaned it with ph neutral cleaner and buffed it to remove the dirt and grime. After the first cleaning we rinsed it and applied a second buffing round this time with clean water.

On top of machine cleaning we hand cleaned the grout to make sure it got the best cleaning it could get. Our grout cleaning process gets the grout 70-90% cleaned. While it is very effective is almost impossible to make grout look as brand new. The only best process would be replacing or retouching the grout.
After that we proceeded to seal by applying 2-3 coatings of sealer, then buffed out the excess sealer.

If the damage is more than normal wear and tear, a restoration process is required. If Travertine is left without maintenance the sealer wears out and dirt and grime keeps building up in the crevices of the stone.
A restoration process consists of cutting off a millimetric layer of the top of the stone therefore reducing etches, scratches, stains and restoring the natural luster after it has been polished.
